I also tried a little foxtroting so to speak in my sophomore geometry class by using Jason for a tessellation. However my math and drawing skills were a bit lacking back then ( arguably today as well) And I am right there with you on the Calvin and Hobbes note, C&H was the comic that got me to love comics and without it I am sure I would never have become so in love with Foxtrot.
